Start by completing our adoption application form.

 

Step Two: Application Review

Once we receive your application, a volunteer will review it and get in touch with you.

 

Step Three: Fostering to Adopt (If Applicable)

If the dog you're interested in is still in Texas, we'll discuss the option of fostering to adopt.

 

Step Four: Reference and Vet Checks

We will contact your references, vet, and check for any apartment or HOA restrictions if necessary.

 

Step Five: Matching and Connecting

If you find the right match, we'll do our best to connect you with the foster in Texas until your dog arrives.

 

Case-by-Case Fostering to Adopt

In some cases, fostering to adopt may be possible, and this can be discussed when you submit your application.

 

Important Information Before Adopting a Stays 4 Strays Rescue Dog

 

• Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years old to adopt. Please have a valid government-issued ID ready.

• Adoption Donation: The donation is $350 per rescue dog if adopted within the state. For out-of-state adoptions, the donation is $450 to cover transportation costs. All dogs will be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and ready to go home with you when you find the right match.

• Puppies: Puppies not old enough to be spayed/neutered at the time of adoption will be scheduled for this procedure at an approved location when they are of age, which will be included in your adoption agreement.

• Renters: If you rent, we will contact your landlord for pet policy information. Please provide their contact details.
